Shoprite sales from continuing operations grew 6.4% in the four months to October 2026, the company said on 6 November, against the same four months of 2025.

For the first three months, July to September, the company said Supermarkets RSA grew 5.3 percentage points faster than the rest of the market, as measured by NielsenIQ. Shoprite said market share data was only available for that period at the time of reporting.

The period and the comparison

Shoprite changed its reporting window this time. It used to give a first-quarter update covering three months. It said it extended the period to four months to reflect the latest metrics ahead of market engagements, before it enters its closed period in December.

Growth in the 52 weeks to 28 June 2026 was 7.2%, on sales of about R270.8 billion. In that update Shoprite put Supermarkets RSA like-for-like sales growth at 2.0% and Sixty60 sales at R25.5 billion for the year, and said it ran 2,839 corporate-owned stores in the segment. The latest update is a voluntary announcement, and Shoprite said its auditors have not reviewed it.

Shoprite said it will issue a 2027 interim sales update before its interim results at the end of February 2027.
